Sikh History Research Centre Establishment & Heads
‘Sikh History Research Centre’ was established in Khalsa College Amritsar in the year 1931, during the Presidentship and Secretaryship of Sardar Sunder Singh Majithia and Dr. Sohan Singh. S. Karam Singh Historian was appointed the first Incharge of this Centre but due to unfortunate sudden death of the first Incharge the Managing committee appointed Sardar Jagat Singh, M.A. as the Incharge of the Centre for Six Months. After that Dr. Ganda Singh was appointed as the Incharge of the Sikh History Research Centre at Khalsa College Amritsar. The mission of this institution was preservation and conservation of the rare handwritten manuscripts and other historical documents relating Sikhism. From that time till today many prominent historians and historians have been serving this Research Centre. Really, the dreams of our educational administrators are becoming true. It is a matter of great pleasure for us that many Visitors and Research Scholars from all over India and abroad visit the Sikh History Research Centre for getting information concerning centuries back, in different disciplines such as Music, History, Literature etc. The research scholars especially of Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy often visit the Centre for the information required. All the visitors note their comments in the Visitor’s Book.
Inauguration of New Grand Building of Sikh History Research Center on ( 7th Feb, 2019 )
With the passage of time as required a grand building has been built in the Campus of Khalsa College during the Presidentship and Secretaryship of Sardar Satyajit Singh Majithia and Sardar Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina. Inauguration of this new grand building took place on 7th Feb. 2019 and the Sikh History Research Centre has been housed herein. In the photograph above we see Sardar Mehal Singh, Principal Khalsa College and other members of the Khalsa College Governing Council partaking in this auspicious ceremony.

Establishment of Galleries Conveying Knowledge about Sikh Spiritual and Martyr Personalities
GALLERY 1 ( GURU SAHIBAN )
This gallery consists of pictures and photographs of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji concerning activities at different stages of his life in detail. The picturesques of all the Sikh Gurus, Bhaktas, Bhatts and Sikh Banikars have been established respectfully. Moreover, all the Sikh personalities especially the contemporaries of Guru Sahiban and the Martyrs of 18th Century and Gurudwara Reform Movement have been shown respectfully in pictorial art.
GALLERY 2 ( SIKH RAJ PERIOD & RULERS )
This gallery consists of paintings of Sikh Guru Sahiban, Bhagat Sahiban, Bhatti-Banikars, Four Sahibzadas and History of Banda Singh Bahadar, Sikh generals of 18th Century and leaders of Sikh Misls and Dominions. Moreover, Sher-i-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh and his generals, Ministers, Princes and other family members are shown in picturesques. Moreover, ancient coins and manuscripts belonging to Sikh History and Sikh Religion have also been displayed beautifully.
GALLERY 3 ( SIKH WAR WEAPONS & HISTORICAL MONUMENTS )
The third gallery depicts the pictures of Sikh fighters with opponent forces, especially the Mogul and the English in detail. There are detailed pictures of the First and the Second Sikh-Anglo Wars. Photographs of Gurdwara Sahiban and other historical places left in Pakistan are also shown. Some of the weapons which the Sikh warriors used to use (in 17th and 18th Century) in the fights against their opponents are placed here in for the visitors and the research scholars.
GALLERY 4 ( KHALSA COLLEGE ALUMNI & SIKH ART )
This gallery conveys the historical background of Khalsa College. We have preserved the original Sketch-maps of the building of Khalsa College Amritsar which were drawn by the greatest world famous architect, Sardar Ram Singh. The photographs of those personalities’ who played a great role in the establishment of Khalsa College in Amritsar and our important alumni who occupied higher administrative offices in India and abroad. Moreover, there are photographs of higher level Sikh Scholars, Philosophers and Theologians. Historical documents and photographs relating Sikh Sabha Movement and Gurdwara Sudhar Movement and the leaders of those movements have been respectfully established. Moreover, the social and cultural history and life-style of the people of Punjab are shown through pictures. Geographical and political maps of Punjab have been displayed in detail.
GALLERY 5 ( GURU NANAK DARSHAN & GURBANI MANUSCRIPTS )
This gallery contains picturization of life events and dialogues of Guru Nanak from childhood till demise. Moreover, the colorful pictures of the styles and designs of calligraphy in ancient manuscripts especially of the Sikh religious scriptures have been displayed. A full detail with symbolic pictures of different Ragas and Ragni has been displayed beautifully.
